THE DESTINATION

GOOGLE MAP IT!
Check your trusted GPS system, in our case it’s google maps, for the quickest and shortest route to the destination. BUT, do not forget to speak to locals or experienced travelers (in that area) for the best route possible because the state of Indian roads are volatile. Also, Google Maps sometimes takes you through extremely small dirt roads or even through roads that might not be motorable by car.
THE DISTANCE
Once you know the route and the time it will take to reach your destination you need to plan if you need to take any rest stops. If you have only one driver then a 7 to 10hr drive is the maximum one can drive in a day, even that’s too much. So plan a halt so the driver is well-rested and also avoid night drives as much as possible.
HOW WE DO IT!
We love road trips and we almost always travel by road. This helps us to explore as many wildlife ‘mini destinations’ on the way to our ‘highlight destination’. We take a halt at wildlife sanctuaries, usually lesser-known, do a safari or two there and then proceed. We do the same on our drive back home. This has helped us discover some lovely hidden gems in our travels.
